I’ve written before about how thankful I am to have been recruited to Iowa. It truly has been a place to thrive both for me and for my family.
We recently gathered faculty recruited by INI or with support from INI for a photo, and it was a great reminder to me of the impact we’ve been able to have by being intentional and collaborative in building the neuroscience community at Iowa. We were missing a few, but I’m amazed we could get this many of us in one place at the same time!
These colleagues have strengthened our already robust scientific community, representing a broad range of research interests from fundamental science to clinical and translational work. Some of them were drawn here through existing collaborations with Iowa neuroscientists. Others were our own top trainees who we successfully competed to hire. And some arrived without connections, but, like me, have found a welcoming home.
Their leadership and creativity, coupled with Iowa’s long-standing reputation for excellence in neuroscience built by our faculty and trainees over decades, are propelling us toward discoveries that will transform our understanding of the brain.
I am incredibly grateful to be on this journey in community with all of you.
